The objectives include analyzing musical culture to inform identity-based design, exploring guidelines for the conservation and development of cultural spaces to ensure sustainable activity, and establishing effective design frameworks for learning environments that support the local community. The scope of the study focuses on the Sawathee community in Mueang District, Khon Kaen Province. The research framework incorporates several key concepts: Creative City, Urban Conservation, Learning City, Sense of Place, and the 5A’s of Tourism. Fieldwork was conducted to gather site-specific data, complemented by an in-depth study of the Mor Lam (traditional folk music) industry. The findings lead to a comprehensive community design for Sawathee, transforming it into a creative hub that promotes tourism and provides public spaces for all forms of Mor Lam performances. This approach ensures the preservation of local cultural heritage and high-value sites under a Creative City framework that benefits both the community and the Mor Lam industry. To implement these findings, site selection criteria were established, encompassing the residential community, the Sawathee archaeological site, and the Rabiab Watthasin Mor Lam troupe. The study concludes by proposing collaborative development guidelines between the public and private sectors to establish the Sawathee community as a central hub for the Mor Lam industry, fully realizing the area’s inherent potential.
